Although most eLearning content developers charge for development on a “time and materials” basis, we strive to provide our clients with either a fixed quotation, or provide a framework within which the likely cost could be fairly accurately predicted. This framework, although not a perfect science, is based on extensive research and practical experience in the eLearning industry.
This framework serves as a pricing guideline only and it is based on the following principles:
- Different courses for different target audiences require different levels of development complexity, especially where multimedia and scenario simulation components are concerned.
- This level of complexity should influence the cost of development.
- There is a direct correlation between the effort to develop online content and the time it takes an average learner to complete that content.
- Therefore this model is based on “design complexity” and average “output duration”.
- Research has shown that the output duration of an eLearning course is about 25 to 30% of the equivalent course in a classroom format, e.g. a full day (7 hour) classroom would probably be equivalent to an eLearning course with “output duration” of about 2.1 hours.

Spotlight:
Kalleo Learning is well known for the quality and cost-effectiveness of our online Systems Training. It is typically based on a broader focus on context and business processes, as well as high quality simulations of the software. Learners can see tasks performed (Show Me simulations), practice the tasks as if in a live system (D.I.Y. Simulations), and be assessed on their ability to perform the tasks (Assess Me Simulations).
